Insider Tips

As with all beaches this beautiful get there as early as possible. We recommend getting there between 9:00-10:00am to find a nice place in the sand. One of the best ways to get there is to take a boat taxi – Menorca Taximar from Cala Galdana is a service we recommend. They will drop you to Cala Macarella and from there its a 30 minute hike to Cala Macarelleta. If you’re brave and decide to drive, parking is extremely challenging so get there before 8AM or don’t risk it.

Bring everything you’ll need for the day – food, drinks, sunscreen, beach towels, beach umbrella.

If you use Menorca Taximar, a good place to buy your grocery is Ci Fe Supermercado 2000 in Cala Galdana (if you come via Menorca Taximar). They are located at: Carrer Ladera, 18, 07750 Serpentona, Illes Balears, Spain). They have an excellent supply of fresh breads and fruits. Check what time they open and you can take your food with you on Menorca tqaximar to the beach. Their meat and olive selection is somewhat limited.

Facilities: There are toilets and facilities at Cala Macarella so use the bathrooms before you start your hike to Macarelleta . There are NO bathrooms on Cala Macarelleta.

Expect to stay for the entire day and spend an amazing day on the beach and in the warm turquoise waters.

Snorkeling is mediocre and there are bits and shards of plastic in the water (as in most of the Mediterranean.)

Flying your drone is prohibited over the beach and the lifeguards will scold you if you do.

Getting There

By Boat Taxi (prefered): The easiest way to get there is by Boat Taxi using Menorca Taximar from Cala Galdana. Take the earliest boat taxi.

By Car: Not recommended as parking is extremey limited

Parking: There are two car parking lots. One is paid and close to the beach, the other is free but a longer walk up hill. Parking is extremely limited so you have to get there before 7-8AM.

Public Transportation: Park in the Car Park – Parking Lot in Cituadella at:

Then catch the Route 69 Ciutadella – Macarella bus from Torres Bus (Autocares Torres).

From 14 May to 15 June and from September 16 to October 15 the bus runs 40 minutes from 8:25 am to 7:45 pm, Monday to Sunday, including public holidays. The last bus leaves Macarella at 8:20 pm.

During high season from 16 June to 15 September the bus runs every 20 minutes from 08:05 am to 10:25 pm, Monday to Sunday, including public holidays. The last bus leaves Macarella at 11 pm.
